Anyone who knows us knows that sometimes we are like turtles. In the case of thermoformable felt, we really outdid ourselves... FORGIVE US!!!
It’s actually been years now that it is in our collection but up until today we have never made a video tutorial to show you the extraordinary characteristics of this product. But now, with the help of Simona Girelli we’ve made things right.
We met Simona a few years ago and we appreciated her passion, experience and professionalism right from the beginning. Luckily for us, Simona immediately made all of these qualities of hers available to us. So we asked her to test our new thermoformable felt and to create some projects and a video tutorial to show our clients how best to use it.
Thermoformable felt is a product that in fact has been available for years in the manufacturing industry where it is used in various fields (mostly in the production of fashion accessories such as hats, handbags and shoes) but it has never been made available to independent artisans and textile artists.
This is why we were missing the experience necessary to explain to our clients how to use this extraordinary product at home. We knew everything about its use on an industrial level, but without Simona we would have never been able to develop a technique for using it on a “homemade” level.
In the 3 video tutorials that we made with Simona, the goal was to explain the characteristics of thermoformable felt in a simple manner, giving you some suggestions for it's use.
Two videos will be online today and describe the basic technique and what Simona calls the Manual Technique respectively. The third video will come out in a few weeks and will show us the Supported Technique.
As you will see, Simona was able to elaborate a simple yet precise technique just like a master chef of timing and temperatures while still leaving space for your imagination. Like in any famous recipe, creativity is the secret ingredient!
Let us know if, with these videos, we have been able to inspire yours!
P.S. Follow Simona on her blog... it’s a bursting with ideas!
