The scarf with the Fisherman's Rib stitch is a knitting project suitable for everyone. Even beginners! We decided to add a few nice details to the scarf to make it extra special. Thick stripes and jazzy pom poms.
The yarn chosen to make the scarf with the Fisherman's rib stitch is our best-seller: Piuma. A slightly twisted extra fine pure merino wool roving.
We've chosen the combination of colors that you can see in this pattern but you can choose from loads of different combinations, seen as the Piuma collection is really vast.

Repeat from row 5 to row 8 for 20 rows.
From row 21 switch combination until you get to the 12th one. Now continue working the scarf but work backwards, or rather, start from the 11th combination until the 1st color combination.
Now all you have to do is make the pom poms.
You can use pom poms not only as a way of embellishing this scarf with the Fisherman's Rib stitch but even on hats and suchlike garments. They are easy to make and really brighten up the garment.
1 get a piece of card and cut out two circular shapes the same width you want the pom pom to be. Then, inside both pieces of card cut out a circle in the middle, using a plastic bottle top is a good way of helping you to draw the shape
2 put the two circular pieces of card together and make a cut in the shape of small piece of cake on both pieces of card
3 holding the two pieces of card together firmly, start wrapping the yarn around the pieces of card. Keep going until they are covered. Add more yarn the more fluffed up you want the pom poms
4 once the pieces of card are covered, cut the yarn sideways with scissors, all around the card, inserting the scissors between the two pieces of card that will act as a guide to get a clean cut
5 after doing this, cut a piece of thread and place it in between the two pieces of card, tie a few knots to bind the two pieces of card together
6 now you can take the card away and the pom pom is done.
Once you've made them (we made 4) all you have to do is attach them onto the scarf, by using a needle and the left-over yarn that goes best with color combinations that you've chosen.
