That’s right, it’s that time of year again when we need to take cover from the unexpected wind and rain. That’s why, we’re starting the new season of knitting and crochet patterns with a beanie. One of the special kinds, with a pom pom and super warm.
The beanie has been made with our Piuma yarn in pure merino wool. It’s got 2 colours, one printed and one classic.
Let’s get started.
GAUGE
10 cm x 10 cm / 4” x 4”
13 stitches x 16 rows
KNIT STITCHES USED
Stockinette stitch:
knit 1 and purl 1.
Rib stitch 1/1:
knit 1 and purl 1, in the next row knit 1 on a knitted stitch and purl 1 on a purled stitch.
Jacquard motif:
each check corresponds to a stitch.
SIZE OF THE FINISHED PIECE
Circle 42 cm / 16.5"
Height 20 cm / 7.9"
DIFFICULTY LEVEL

METHOD
With the Piuma col. Spirit of the Cyrcus cast on 62 stitches with n° 7 EU / 10.5 US needles.
Rib stitch 1/1 for 11 rows.
Proceed with n° 8 EU / 11 US needles.
Row 12: knit all the row
row 13: purl all the row
row 14: knit all the row
row 15: purl all the row
row 16: work the Jacquard until row 25.
Now continue with Piuma Etoile.
Row 26: knit all
row 27: purl all
row 28: knit 2, * knit 2 together, knit 2 stitches * repeat from * to *, finish with 2 knit stitches
row 29: purl all
row 30: knit 3, knit 2 stitches together, * knit 1, knit 2 together * repeat from * to *, knit 3 to finish
row 31: purl all
row 32: knit 2, knit 2 together for all the row
row 33: purl all.
Cut the thread leaving a bit of length, with a needle pick up the stitches and pull the thread to bind off the stitches together.
Sew up the beanie.
