Hemp tops mixes are composed of selected fibers from our own production, often derived from tops processing waste or stock.

Outlet products.
Products in the outlet are offered at a reduced price because they have characteristics that do not fully meet our quality standards. They remain fully workable, however.

Availability and packaging
Our hemp tops are available in packages of 100 g, 500 g, 1 kg per color. Each package has a natural tolerance of ±3% and contains wool in a continuous ribbon, ideal both to save money and for those who need large quantities for technical processing.
For extra-CEE shipments, packages are vacuum-packed, reducing volume and lowering shipping costs. Don’t worry: once opened, the hemp returns to its original, fluffy volume without any loss of quality.

Tops (combed tape) made of hemp.
Tape weight: about 20g/m.
Tape length: about 5 meters for 100 g.

It is a liberian fiber, extracted from the outer part of the plant stem, characterized by a naturally hollow and hygroscopic structure. This peculiarity gives it excellent properties of breathability and thermoregulation: cool in summer and insulating in colder periods. To the touch, hemp evolves over time: initially more textural and consistent, it gradually softens with use, acquiring an increasingly comfortable and refined hand . From a technical point of view, it is one of the strongest natural fibers, with high toughness and durability, able to withstand wear, traction and intense processing without losing integrity .

Hemp is one of the world's oldest textile plants, with origins in Central Asia, where it was cultivated thousands of years ago . Today its cultivation is widespread in several areas of the world, including China, Europe and Canada, with supply chains increasingly oriented toward sustainability. The plant grows rapidly and requires very little water, with no need for pesticides or intensive treatments, making it one of the most environmentally friendly crops in the contemporary textile scene . The entire production process follows a logic of complete valorization of the plant, in which every part can be used, contributing to a circular and low environmental impact model.

The dyes used for our products meet the requirements of the OEKO-TEX standard, which guarantees the control and limitation of substances potentially harmful to human health and the environment.

The dyeing of fibers is carried out in our dyehouse in Italy, in compliance with current European regulations on chemical substances and environmental safety, including the REACH Regulation (EC No. 1907/2006), which governs the registration, evaluation, authorization and restriction of chemical substances.
Operating within the European Union also entails compliance with additional provisions on environmental protection and textile product safety, such as the CLP Regulation (EC No. 1272/2008), relating to the classification, labeling and packaging of substances and mixtures. This regulatory framework ensures that dyeing processes are conducted according to high standards of safety, traceability and environmental responsibility, offering a reliable product for both the end user and the environment.

Our hemp tops are perfect for hempneedle felting, forwater felting, for spinning, the hand weaving.

Since colors may vary depending on your monitor or device settings, we recommend purchasing our Color Card to check the shades in person before placing your final order. Want to check the quality of the material? Choose our Sample Box.

CAUTION: All of our colors generally exhibit high lightfastness and wash fastness. However, fluorescent colors (80's collection), in addition to having a lower lightfastness, may also suffer significant color loss in the presence of alkaline or particularly aggressive soaps, as well as with prolonged processing or washing. This phenomenon can occur, to varying degrees, even with dark and particularly bright colors. For materials dyed with these shades, we always recommend that a preliminary processing and washing test be carried out on a small sample before making the final design. This precaution is essential, especially when dyed materials are combined with unbleached or light-colored fibers.
Finally, to best preserve the colors, it is recommended that artifacts not be dried in direct sunlight, but in a shady place.
