Tutorial for the creation of a knitted chunky scarf

The silly season is upon us. We are in the middle of that time of year in which we agonise over what gift to give to whom. Time and time again, the undertaking of putting the most beautiful and original gift under the tree gets ever more difficult. What to do then?  Well we have got some advice to share. A cuddly warm scarf hand-made by you! Yes, yes I know that giving a scarf for Christmas is so classic and cliche. however, our scarf has more to offer. It is made with our Piuma yarn in the XXL version. This means you will get a super soft, chunky, extra fine merino wool scarf, with an Italian-dyed yarn that is Oeko-Tex certified.

And if that weren't enough, the scarf is striped, in pastel tones and made with the grain of rice stitch. As a result it is unisex and of low difficulty.

Shall we begin?

Tutorial for creating the fringes

Cut 16 portions of yarn (in various colours) approximately 30-35cm / 11.8-13.8" long.

For each fringe (8 in total) select 2 strands and fold them in half.

Insert the folded part into the short side of the scarf and pull it out around 3-4 cm / 1.2-1.6" this will form a buttonhole. Now with a crochet hook or with your hands, pull the threads completely through the buttonhole and pull. Repeat this movement for each fringe. Remember, however, to position them so that they are at regular distances evenly from each other.

On each short side of the scarf there will therefore be 4 fringes. Finally, refine the length of the fringes with a pair of scissors.
