It’s almost time to get ready for Christmas. A decorated table and tree and a desire to enjoy some quality time. Whether it’s a Christmas in company or a more intimate one, the important thing is to celebrate. To be able to do that we need a smart themed jumper too. And here it is, the chain print sweater!
This tutorial to make a chain print sweater has been made with Sparkle, our most festive yarn, in baby alpaca and merino.
Let’s get started.
GAUGE
10 cm x 10 cm / 4” x 4”
11 stitches x 17 rows
KNIT-CROCHET STITCHES USED
Stockinette stitch:
knit 1 row and purl 1 row.
Rib 1/1:
Knit 1 and purl 1, in the next row knit 1 on a knitted stitch and purl 1 on a purled stitch.
Cable:
rib stitch 12 rows in the following way:rows 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11: knit 3, purl 3, knit 3rows 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12: work the stitches as they appearrow 13: knit 3, purl 3, knit 3, turn the needles over and purl 3, knit 3, purl 3, turn the needles over and knit 3, purl 3, knit 3, turn the needles over and purl 3,knit 3, purl 3 turn them over again and twist.
Twist:
put 3 stitches on the right side without working them on a circular needle on the front of the work, put 3 stitches on the wrong side without working them on a circular needle on the back of the work, knit the next 3 stitches, purl the 3 stitches of the circular needle that’s behind the work, with your fingers find the space that has formed during the work and pass both tips of the circular needle through that are at the front of the work, pull the thread tightly until the stitches come through which will then be
knittedrow 14: repeat from row 2.
