How to make the chain print sweater

It’s almost time to get ready for Christmas. A decorated table and tree and a desire to enjoy some quality time. Whether it’s a Christmas in company or a more intimate one, the important thing is to celebrate. To be able to do that we need a smart themed jumper too. And here it is, the chain print sweater!

This tutorial to make a chain print sweater has been made with Sparkle, our most festive yarn, in baby alpaca and merino.

KNIT-CROCHET STITCHES USED
Stockinette stitch:
knit 1 row and purl 1 row.
Rib 1/1:
Knit 1 and purl 1, in the next row knit 1 on a knitted stitch and purl 1 on a purled stitch.
Cable:
rib stitch 12 rows in the following way:rows 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11: knit 3, purl 3, knit 3rows 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12: work the stitches as they appearrow 13: knit 3, purl 3, knit 3, turn the needles over and purl 3, knit 3, purl 3, turn the needles over and knit 3, purl 3, knit 3, turn the needles over and purl 3,knit 3, purl 3 turn them over again and twist.
Twist:
put 3 stitches on the right side without working them on a circular needle on the front of the work, put 3 stitches on the wrong side without working them on a circular needle on the back of the work, knit the next 3 stitches, purl the 3 stitches of the circular needle that’s behind the work, with your fingers find the space that has formed during the work and pass both tips of the circular needle through that are at the front of the work, pull the thread tightly until the stitches come through which will then be

Using needles n° 7 EU / 10.5 US cast on 59 stitches and rib stitch 1x1 for 11 rows.Using needles n° 8 EU / 11 US continue with the stockinette stitch for 57 rows (the 11 ribbed stitch rows are included).

Bind off and sew the front and the back together.

How to make the sleeves of the chain print sweater

Work just a central cable with needles n° 7 EU / 10.5 US, cast on 31 stitches and rib stitch 1x1 for 11 rows.
Continue with needles n° 8 EU / 11 US. 
Row 12: purl 11, knit 3, purl 3, knit 3, purl 11.Rib stitch the central part and do the twists in rows 16, 28, 40, 52, 64, 76.
Row 10, 20, 30, 40, 50: double the first and last stitch
row 60: start the head of the sleeve, work 2 stitches together at the beginning and at the end of the row.
Work all the even rows like this and all the odd rows as they appear.
At the end of the sleeve there will be 17 stitches.
Bind off and sew the shoulders onto the bust.

Now let’s move on to making the neck of the sweater with a chain weave

With the circular needles n° 7 EU /10.5 US pick up the stitches of the neckline: 19 stitches in the back, 19 stitches on each side of the front of the neckline and 9 central stitches for a total of 66 stitches. Rib stitch 1x1 for 10 rounds.Bind off all the stitches. Fold the neck over on the wrong side and double stitch it.
