Today we are going to learn to the turret stitch. We are big fans of this stitch because it is delicately crocheted in an openwork style which makes it perfect for a summer blanket, perhaps for a child, but also for a long dress.
The yarn selected for this stitch is Cleopatra in the colour Twilight. This yarn is in linen and cotton.
Let's begin.
MATERIALS
Cleopatra yarn col. Antilles 100 g / 3.5 oz
Crochet hook n° 5.5 EU / I/9 US
LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY
Intermediate
METHOD
We work off a number of base chains in multiples of 4 + 2.
Row 1 (on the wrong side of the piece): chain 1, skip 2 chains starting from the hook, 1 single crochet in each following chain stitches
row 2: chain 3, *skip 1 stitch, 4 cross stitches (1 double crochet in each following stitches, from the front of the stitches just crocheted, make 1 half double crochet, inserting the hook in the previously skipped stitch)*, always repeat from * to * and finish with 1 double crochet at the starting point of the previous round
row 3: chain 1, 1 single crochet in each following stitches
row 4: repeat from row 2.
Start with the stitch that precedes the first *, repeat everything from * to * and end with the stitch that follows the second asterisk.
