Creative felting with Olive This Felt

Let's talk creative felting today. We've got two types of industrial felt in our collection, both thermoformable. One of them uses regenerated wool, straight from our Prato district. Circular economy is a big deal here! There are loads of colors to choose from too.

And it's for all these reasons that Jenny Bolhofner from Olive This Felt chose to create her plushies with our felt. A slice of cake complete with sugar frosting and a snail mailbox that we all wish were our mail carriers. What would you create with our felt?

While you ponder that, keep reading to get to know Jenny and find some inspiration!

And then explore our felt collections, available both by the meter and in squares.

Ever since I was little, I was fascinated with making things. I remember going with my dad to pottery classes, and spending summers drawing and painting. My passion for art continued beyond high school, and in 2009 I graduated with a BFA in Printmaking and Drawing from Murray State University.

In 2014, shortly after my oldest daughter Olive was born, I quit my job to become a stay at home mom. While it was rewarding in its own way, I found myself craving a creative outlet that was outside the realms of motherhood. I happened to come across several online tutorials on making felt food, and decided to give it a try. I fell in love with felt and embroidery, and opened my business, Olive This Felt, a few months later.

I now have almost ten years of experience as a fiber artist, selling my work around the world and pushing the boundaries of embroidery art. In addition to the day to day runnings of my business, I teach workshops at a local art house and create tutorials and patterns for major felt and craft distributors.

I currently live in Ohio with my husband Derrick, my ten year old daughter Olive, my seven year old daughter Hazel, and our dog and cat. When I am not stitching, you can find me gardening outside, hiking or reading. One day I dream of illustrating a children’s book with pictures of my felt creations.
