Annalisa Chelli

A short, light, and hot cardigan with a simple and romantic line. It’s perfect for a daytime look if you choose a light, pastel colour like the one you see here, Lily of the Valley. Or for an evening look if you go for black. In any case, to get a cardigan as beautiful as this one, you must use our Fluffy mohair and silk yarn.

Grab those needles and let's start knitting together. First, though, head over to our shop and choose your favourite colour.

METHOD

The cardigan is worked flat and is made up of 5 pieces: the back, the front, and the sleeves. The neck and the edges of the front pieces are worked after sewing.

How to knit the back of the crop cardigan

Cast on 55 (59, 63) stitches with needles no. 4 EU / 6 US.

Row 1: purl 1 stitch, repeat (knit 1, purl 1) until the end of the row
row 2: knit 1, repeat (purl 1, knit 1) until the end of the row.

Rows 1 and 2 set to 1/1 rib edge, repeat them 4 more times, arriving at row 10. Continue in stockinette for 24 rows, equal to 20 cm/8". Now start decreasing for the raglan armholes: for simplicity, the row numbering starts again from 1.

Row 1: bind off 3 (4, 4) stitches, continue knitting to the end of the row
row 2: purl until the last 3 (4, 4) stitches, bind off 3 (4, 4) stitches
row 3: decrease 1 by working 1 stitch passed over on the next 2 stitches, continue knitting until the last 2 stitches, decrease 1 by knitting 2 stitches together on the last 2 stitches
row 4: purl.

Rows 3 and 4 set to decreases of 1 stitch at the sides for the raglan armholes. Repeat them another 12 (13, 14) times: you arrive at row 28 (30, 32), equal to 23 (25, 26) cm / 9.1" (9.8", 10.2"), with 23 (23, 25) stitches on the needle.

Bind off.

How to knit the finishing touches of the crop cardigan

For the edge of the front and the neck, starting from the lower corner of the right front piece, with needles no. 4 EU / 6 US pick up the stitches evenly along the front right piece, the right sleeve, the back of the neck, the left sleeve, and front left: the total number of stitches must be odd.

row 2: purl 1 stitch, repeat (knit 1, purl 1) until the end of the row.

Rows 1 and 2 set to 1/1 rib edge, repeat them 4 more times, arriving at row 10. Bind off.
