Let's Start!
METHOD
Start by having a look at a small white paper bag. We’ll recreate the same shape by folding and sewing the fabric.
Cut your fabric into a 33x60 cm rectangle shape. Double the short size and use it folded in half if you’re using a very thin fabric, like the one we’re working with. Follow the instructions below for folding and machine sewing.
Working on the side with all loose edges, fold in both corners by measuring about 5cm to tuck in.
Hold the corners and close the edge by folding over upon itself repeatedly and sew it in place.
Here’s how your cookie bag should look after sewing. Now let’s proceed to hardening.
Blend 1 part white glue with 2 parts water in a disposable plate or bowl.
Soak your fabric bag into the water and glue solution, until the liquid is well absorbed. Squeeze out the excess liquid before proceeding.
Use the hairdryer to dry and give structure to the bag. Pay special attention to creating a flat base for it to stand safely: the bag will hold the shape as it dries.
As a finishing touch while drying, turn the upper edge insideout to create a nice cuff.
