The project is quick and easy and requires such a small amount of yarn that even if you\u2019re working with a precious and impressive yarn such as our Sparkle one, the total cost will be next to nothing. You\u2019ll be amazed at the end result, even more so because we\u2019ve chosen to make them using the honeycomb stitch, which although it&#8217;s rather simple it gives the baubles a 3-D effect.<\/span><\/p><br><br><h2 style=\"text-align: center; \">Tutorial: how to make Christmas baubles using the honeycomb stitch<\/h2><p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">MATERIALS<\/span><\/strong><br><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Sparkle yarn<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">&nbsp;col. Moon 10 g \/ 0.3 oz (How much you use will depend on the size of the ball. Ours has a circumference of about 20cm\/8\u201d).<\/span><br><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><b>Polystyrene ball<br><\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><b>Needles<\/b>&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">n\u00b0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">&nbsp;8 EU \/ 11 US<\/span><\/p><br><br><p><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\"><b>KNIT-CROCHET STITCHES USED<\/b><\/span><br><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Knit stitch<\/span><br><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Purl stitch<\/span><br><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Honeycomb stitch<\/span><br><\/p><br><br><h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">How to make Christmas baubles using the honeycomb stitch<\/h2><p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Cast on 21 stitches leaving about 30cm  of yarn for the closure of the piece around the ball.<\/span><br><b><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">1<\/span><sup><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">st<\/span><\/sup><\/b><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><b> row<\/b>: purl<\/span><br><b><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">2<\/span><sup><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">nd<\/span><\/sup><\/b><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><b> row<\/b>: knit, for each stitch increase 1 until you have 42 stitches.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Now proceed with the honeycomb stitch as follows:<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><b>3rd row<\/b>: * knit 1, slip it as if to purl, knit stitch the 3rd*, repeat from * to * until the end of the row.<\/span><br><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><b>4th row<\/b>: purl 1, slip the next as if to knit, purl the 3rd*, repeat from * to * until the end of the row.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Work 32 rows alternating the rows as done for rows 3 and 4.<\/span><\/p><p><b><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">37<\/span><sup><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">th<\/span><\/sup><\/b><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><b>  row<\/b>: *knit 1, slip the next, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over *, repeat from * to * until the end of the row and you find yourselves with the number of initial stitches (i.e. 21)<\/span><\/p><h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">How to close the ball<\/h3><p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Take the stitches off the needle and pull them through the yarn that was left out to close up the ball.<\/span><br><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Sew the side seam.<\/span><\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dhgshop.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/come-realizzare-delle-palle-di-natale.jpg\" style=\"width: 100%;\"><br><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">There you go, your Christmas bauble is ready to be hung on the tree.
