Let's find out more about Daniela Balducci

Daniela Balducci, after attending Art School, graduated from the Faculty of Architecture, with a thesis on colour. She then started collaborating with professional studios and shops. She approached felt in 2009, moved by the curiosity to discover in detail the technique for processing this warm and versatile material. She found very little online at the time and there weren't many books around either. Therefore, she started looking for and attending courses, first in Milan and then in Brentonico, Verona, and Biella. Little by little she then understood that she could combine her passion for geometric shapes and colours, developed during her career as an architect, with the precision that distinguishes her.

This is how daniela_infeltriscimi was born: a warm embrace that hugs you, the wool that transforms and becomes a unique and surprising object.

Sustainable water felting

Daniela has collaborated with some artistic magazines and organises courses to introduce both adults and children to felt. What started as a passion then developed into a real job in 2021. In 2022 she opened her first laboratory. In this place, which is sacred to her, she endeavours to minimise the environmental impact by using recycled water - which heats up in the sun in summer - and by reusing packaging and scraps of fabric for shipments. When she has the opportunity, she also produces soap for felting.

Daniela especially loves working with Bergschaf and chose our fibre to make these two-tone bowls using the water felting technique. She likes the full-bodied consistency of bergschaf, very suitable for three-dimensional creations having great volume and thickness. Also, for the wonderful effect the different colours produce when they mix and shift from one layer to another. When it comes to colour, we are unbeatable!

Thanks to her work, Daniela was able to understand that felt does not pose barriers of place or language, it is like a universal language that allows us to encounter extraordinary people. She considers herself lucky because she has established sincere bonds of exchange and discussion with many of them.

With felt you never stop experimenting, she believes she still has much to learn and never ceases to be amazed by the possibilities that this incomparable water felting technique offers.
