Summer is coming and here at DHG we’ve come up with an extra special piece to launch the cool and light Lincoln Yarn. In this tutorial we’re going to explain in detail, step by step how to make a crochet swimsuit. As a backdrop in the wonderful setting of Cinque Terre are the fantastic sandals by Lanapo.
MATERIALS
Lincoln yarn col. Antilles 200 g / 7 oz
Knitting needle n° 2.5 / C/2 US

double crochet from left to right
METHOD
Front
Cast on a chain of 13 stitches.
Round 1: start from the 5th chain stitch from the starting end and double crochet 9 for a total of 10 stitches.
round 2 until the round 8: double crochet
round 9: double crochet increasing 1 stitch at the beginning and at the end of the round to obtain 12 stitches
round 10: double crochet
round 11: repeat the round 9 to obtain 14 stitches
round 12: double crochet
round 13: repeat the round 9 to obtain 16 stitches
round 14 until the round 28: repeat as the round 9 until you have 46 stitches
Work 2 rounds of double crochet at the start of the initial chain of the back of the briefs
Round 3: double crochet increasing 2 stitches at the beginning and the end of the round to obtain 14 stitches
round 4 until the round 12: repeat the round 3 to obtain 50 stitches
round 13: double crochet increase 1stitch at the beginning and at the end of the round
round 14: repeat the round 13 until you have 76 stitches, place a stitch marker after 10 stitches from the start of the last round and at 10 stitches before the same round.
Join up the front and the back with a slip stitch.
Front
Double crochet starting from the 1st stitch marker until you get to the 2nd one for a total of 66 stitches
Double crochet for 28 rounds.
Round 29: 3 chain stitches, double crochet 2 together, double crochet 6 together, double crochet 60, 2 together, double crochet 1
round 30: repeat the round 29, double crochet 2 together at the sides for a total of 58 stitches
round 31: continuing decreasing the sides until you have a total of 54 stitches
At this point work the parts separately as follows:
round 32: chain stitch 3, double crochet 2 together, double crochet 12, double crochet 2 together, double crochet 1
round 33: chain stitch 3, double crochet 2 together, double crochet 10, double crochet 2 together, double crochet 1
round 34: chain stitch 3, double crochet 2 together, double crochet 8, double crochet 2 together, double crochet 1
round 35: chain stitch 3, double crochet 2 together, double crochet 6, double crochet 2 together, double crochet 1
round 36: chain stitch 3, double crochet 2 together, double crochet 4, double crochet 2 together, double crochet 1
round 37: chain stitch 3, double crochet 2 together, double crochet 2, double crochet 2 together, double crochet 1
round 38: chain stitch 3, double crochet 2 together, double crochet 2 together, double crochet 1
round 39: chain stitch 3, double crochet 2 together, double crochet 1
round 40: chain stitch 3, skip 1 foundation stitch, double crochet 1
round 41: skip 18 central stitches for the neckline and work the second part as the first
Back
Round 1: double crochet 19 starting from the hip
round 2: chain stitch 3, double crochet 2 together, double crochet 16
round 3: crochet as the stitches appear
round 4 until the round 22: alternate the round 2 and 3 repetitively so you’re left with 7 stitches
round 24: chain stitch 3, double crochet 2 together, double crochet 4
round 25: chain stitch 3, double crochet 2, double crochet 2 together, double crochet 1
round 26: chain stitch 3, double crochet 2 together, double crochet 1
round 27: chain stitch 3, double crochet 2 together, double crochet 2
round 28: chain stitch 3, double crochet 2 together, double crochet 1
round 29: chain stitch 3, double crochet 1
Finishing
Neckline: Starting from the round, double crochet 1, chain stitch 1 in each arch; carry on working in this way for the back scoop too. In the stitches work a double crochet, a chain stitch, a double crochet, a chain stitch, a double crochet and a chain stitch.
Finish off with the shrimp stitch.
Shaping of the legs:
Round 1: double crochet 1 in each arch alternating with 1 chain stitch.
round 2: double crochet 2, chain stitch 2, double crochet 2 in the same arch, single crochet 1 in the following arch, repeat for the whole round.
