How to do the front right of the openwork cardigan

Cast on 54 stitches with n° 4 EU / 6 US needles and work the rib stitch 1/1 on the first 48 stitches and the garter stitch on the remaining 6 stitches for 14 rows. The 6 garter stitches will act as a placket.

Proceed with the openwork stitch with n° 5 EU / 8 US needles.

From row 1 to row 84 follow the alternation of the rows in this way:
row 1: 6 garter stitch, 1 edge stitch, *slip 2 to the right, 1 yarn over*, repeat between * for all the row
row 2: purl all apart from the last stitches to be worked with the garter stitch
row 3: garter stitch 6, 1 edge stitch, *1 yarn over, knit 2 stitches together left*, repeat between * for all the row
row 4: purl all apart from the last stitches to be worked with the garter stitch.

Row 85: 6 garter stitch, 1 edge stitch, *slip 2 to the right, 1 yarn over*, repeat between * for all the row
row 86: bind off 2 stitches and then purl to continue apart from the last stitches to be worked with the garter stitch
row 87: 6 garter stitch, 1 edge stitch, *1 yarn over, knit 2 stitches together left*, repeat between * for all the row, bind off the last two stitches together to decrease.
This decrease is to make the V shape as to not interrupt the openwork stitch.
Row 88: purl all apart from the last stitches to be worked with the garter stitch.

Proceed with this alternation of rows until and including row 148:
row 89: 6 garter stitch, 1 edge stitch, *slip 2 to the right, 1 yarn over*, repeat between * for all the row
row 90: purl all apart from the last stitches to be worked with the garter stitch
row 91: garter stitch 6, 1 edge stitch, *1 yarn over, knit 2 stitches together left*, repeat between * for all the row, bind off the last two stitches together to decrease
row 92: purl all apart from the last stitches to be worked with the garter stitch.

Bind off all the stitches.

Work the front left just like you did the front right but mirror knitting.

How to do the sleeves of the cardigan

Now let’s move on to the last two pieces of the openwork cardigan, that is, the sleeves. Using the n° 4 EU / 6 US needles cast on 50 stitches and rib stitch 1/1 for 20 rows.
Continue with the openwork stitch with n° 5 EU / 8 US needles.

From row 1 to row 80 follow the alternation of the rows like so:
row 1: 2 edge stitches, *slip 2 to the right, 1 yarn over*, repeat between * for all the row
row 2: purl all
row 3: 2 edge stitches, *yarn over 1, knit 2 stitches together left*, repeat between * for all the row
row 4: purl all.

Row 81: 2 edge stitches, *slip 2 to the right, 1 yarn over*, repeat between * for all the row
row 82: purl all
row 83: 2 edge stitches, *yarn over 1, knit 2 stitches together left*, repeat between * for all the row
row 84: purl all, interlacing 2 stitches on each side.

Continue with this alternation of rows until and including row 96:
row 85: 2 edge stitches, *slip 2 to the right, 1 yarn over*, repeat between * for all the row
row 86: purl all
row 87: 2 edge stitches, *yarn over 1, knit 2 stitches together left*, repeat between * for all the row
row 88: purl all.

Bind off all the stitches.

Bind off the sleeves and then go on to bind off the sides keeping the 2 stitches that we decreased in the edges, both on the front and on the back as a reference point. Bind off the shoulders too.
Now attach the sleeves onto the chest part and you’re done!
