Here at DHG we are one big family. this family is made up of those who work here, but above all of those who shop with us every day, such as our resellers, with whom we always happy to collaborate with to find the most suitable solutions and the most interesting ideas. Each reseller offers us invaluable assistance and part of our success is achieved by their dedication. For this reason we have decided to give a platform to our resellers; to share with us a little bit about themselves in this dedicated area. Today, we hand you over to Nutwood, a reseller based in the United Kingdom.
Jacqueline Emberton, founder The Nutwood Collection, Birmingham, UK
I’m a felter that loves colour, which is why it’s so good to work with DHG. Nuno felting is my favourite technique because it felts so fast – I’m a very lazy felter. I also needle felt, mainly small animals and fairies. I made a trio of mice in a woodland setting and I was very proud of them – until my husband said that they looked more like rats. Since then, I’ve avoided mice.
How and why did you start this business?
For many years I worked as an IT consultant, designing application software for major corporates. I grew tired of the long hours and stress and decided to open eBay and Etsy shops selling craft materials. I thought it would be restful and give me more time to develop my own work. It hasn’t worked out that way – I’m just as busy as I used to be!
Why did you choose to be a DHG reseller?
As a felter, I found that DHG fibre was far superior to the offerings from other retailers both in quality and colour range which is why I decided to stock it. Also, my shop reviews show that my customers agree that DHG is the best.
How do you build trustworthy relationships with your customers?
I describe the products accurately, respond quickly to queries and offer help and advice to those that are new to the craft world – even when the product they need is not one that I sell. Orders are despatched within one business day, so the customer can start their project almost immediately.
Do you like the craft world, why?
I adore the craft world. At an early age I was taught to knit and sew, and I have always been involved in crafts. I find it restful to design a project and then see it come to fruition. Sometimes it is just what I designed in my head, sometimes it’s not, but that’s the mystery of felting. You travel hopefully, and then you arrive – sometimes at the wrong destination!
What sets you apart from other resellers?
I am unusual in that I sell the DHG Classics range in a range of weights, starting at 5 g. This is popular with needle felters and fibre artists because it enables them to select all the colours they need for a project. Also, I’m possibly the only retailer that owns a flock of sheep and markets their wool.
