My name is Carolina Alles, though on social media I am known as @caroindy and for more than 10 years my job has been creating wool characters using the needle felting technique.

Caro Indy and needle felting

My journey into the world of needle felting began back in 2010, by chance, when I saw an image on a blog of some woolly animals that captured my heart. It was on that very day that I decided to learn more about the materials and technique used to create those characters. Once I understood the first principles of needle felting, I undertook a real self-taught exploration of it. I then started selling my creations at small craft markets and eventually became a needle felting teacher. I also taught a course on Domestika and have worked on various stop-motion projects as well.

For DHG I have created several intriguing pieces. The materials selected for these characters are a blend of carded wool from New Zealand, carded Bergschaf, wool laps, hemp and industrial felt.

A mother lemon and a baby lemon, a sleepy little house, a sweet country mouse. A funny capybara who has two little birds for friends; did you know that the capybara is the largest rodent in the world, which swims like a fish and can be easily domesticated?

And finally, two characters from the cult film The Royal Movies: the very blonde playwright Margot and the financial genius Chas!
