Mariana Baertl is a Peruvian artist currently based in Barcelona, Spain. Her artistic journey began in Peru, where she studied Fashion Design. Later, she moved to Barcelona, specializing in Haute Couture and pattern-making, and earned a postgraduate degree in Fashion Business Management from Pompeu Fabra University.

Following her studies, Mariana worked as a fashion designer for a major retailer in Lima. During this time, she experimented with textures and textiles, sparking her passion for fiber art. As her love for this medium grew, she decided to devote herself entirely to creating unique and textured pieces.

Each piece is meticulously handmade using a mixture of techniques, including embroidery, weaving, latch hook, and other experimental methods.

All of her pieces emphasize texture and composition, achieved using a variety of fibers and yarns sourced from around the world, with a particular focus on Peruvian natural fibers, such as cotton and wool.

Her works are finished with intricate embroidery details that enhance the complexity of each texture. By employing experimental embroidery techniques, Mariana achieves a distinctive and authentic aesthetic.
