How to knit the Chunky Braid stitch

Calling all knitting addicts, ready to learn a new knit stitch? Today’s one is a classic knit stitch called the Chunky Braid stitch. You can use it to make a blanket, a sweater or a poncho.

We’ve chosen our Vintage yarn colour. Chocolate for the knitted Chunky Braid stitch. A light cotton and alpaca yarn with a delicate mélange effect.

How to knit the Chunky Braid stitch

MATERIALS 
Vintage Yarn col. Chocolate 100 g / 3.5 oz
Knitting needle n° 8 EU / 11 US

METHOD
It's done on 15 stitches

Row 1 - 5: knit

row 2 and all the even rows: purl

row 3: knit 3, knit 6 left cross stitches (leave 3 stitches hanging at the front, knit 3, knit the hanging stitches), knit 6 left cross stitches.

row 7: knit 6 right cross stitches (leave 3 stitches hanging at the back, knit 3, knit the hanging stitches), knit 6 right cross stitches, knit 3.

row 9: repeat from the 1st row.

Purl all stitches in the even rows not indicated on the pattern.
