Is there anyone in the world who can resist a knitted crop kimono? Maybe, but we certainly can’t! That’s why today we’re bringing you the pattern to create one yourself—we know you’re part of the club!
The kimono is made with the Stromboli pure cotton tape yarn, and that’s what gives it the extra touch. A stretchy, relatively thick tape yarn that helps the kimono grow quickly and fluidly as you knit.
Choose your favorite Stromboli color from the store, and then start the project. And did you know that the yarn's name is a tribute to the island of Stromboli in the Sicilian archipelago of the Aeolian Islands? It’s a place of unique beauty, with an active but gentle volcano, evoking thoughts of summer, the desire for a vacation away from the chaos, and wild freedom. It’s a little like this kimono that will give you cool and comfortable days, but with style.

METHOD
The kimono is knitted flat, horizontally, from sleeve to sleeve: it is therefore made from one single piece, which is sewn together at the end along the underarms and sides.

Start with the left sleeve.
With knitting needles n° 10 EU / 15 US, cast on 22 (24, 26) stitches and knit 2 rows in garter stitch.
Row 3: knit 1, make 1 increase by knitting into the back loop of the next stitch, continue knitting until the last stitch, make 1 increase by knitting into the back loop of the next stitch, knit 1
row 4: knit all stitches.
Rows 3 and 4 establish the garter stitch with increases at the sides. Repeat these rows for another 11 (10, 9) times. You will reach row 26 (24, 22), which is 18 (17, 16) cm / 7.1" (6.7", 6.3") long, with 46 stitches on the needle.
Rows 27 and 28 (25 and 26, 23 and 24): cast on 3 (5, 7) new stitches, knit until the end of the row. There are now 52 (56, 60) stitches on the needle, half corresponding to the left front and half to the back. Continue in garter stitch for 24 (28, 32) rows, reaching row 52 (54, 56), which is 37.5 (38.5, 39.5) cm / 14.8" (15.2", 15.5") long. You have completed the left front and half of the back
row 53 (55, 57): bind off the first 26 (28, 30) stitches for the left front, then knit the remaining 26 (28, 30) stitches for the back
rows 54 and 55 (56 and 57, 58 and 59): knit all stitches
row 56 (58, 60): knit all stitches, then cast on 26 (28, 30) new stitches for the right front.
Continue in garter stitch for 24 (28, 32) rows, reaching row 80 (86, 92), which is 59 (62, 65) cm / 23.2" (24.4", 25.6") long. You have completed the right front and the back. Now start the right sleeve.

Rows 81 and 82 (87 and 88, 93 and 94): bind off the first 3 (5, 7) stitches, knit until the end of the row
row 83 (89, 95): decrease 1 stitch by working 1 simple decrease over the first 2 stitches, knit until the last 2 stitches, decrease 1 stitch by knitting the last 2 stitches together
row 84 (90, 96): knit all stitches.
Rows 83 and 84 (89 and 90, 95 and 96) establish the garter stitch with decreases at the sides. Repeat these rows for another 11 (10, 9) times, then knit 2 more rows in garter stitch. You will reach row 108 (112, 116), which is 78 (80, 82) cm / 30.7" (31.5", 32.3") long, with 22 (24, 26) stitches on the needle. Bind off the remaining stitches.

Fold the work in half widthwise, aligning it at the short neckline opening, then sew the underarms and sides together.
