Our extra fine Merino wool tops offer becomes even broader, with a new collection which brings out the beauty of natural dyes. Many hours of research were necessary to choose these seventeen colors, without counting all the performance tests that were carried out. In the end, we achieved this fantastic result thanks to our passion for colors and for the environment.

These seventeen new colors are made with natural dyeing extracts obtained from plants, and in a small percentage from insects (cochineal). The dyes produced through this process present certain characteristics and specifics which are determined by their own nature, namely low resistance to light. As a consequence, with time the extra fine Merino wool tops may change in color. Another thing to know about natural dyeing extracts is that they affect the fiber differently from chemical ones. For this reason, these products may release some dye when they are washed.
The Merino wool tops is such a versatile material, that is used both for crafts and for artwork. Indeed, there is a special technique that you can use on these fibers, i.e. felting, which lets you make many types of objects with different uses and purposes, from everyday items to works of art to be shown in exhibitions.
For our new Natural Dye collection, we used our natural dye extracts, that include: cutch tree, anatto, chestnut, chlorophyll, cochineal, coreopsis, turmeric, dyer’s broom, woad, indigo, logwood, Brazilian redwood, nut, weld, rich madder, common madder. In case you want to try your hand at dyeing and at making different shades of color, you will find those dyes in our online shop.
